PROPERTY ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate monthly processes (closing GL, CM, AP; payment of fees; preliminary and final rent up and late fee processing; monthly calendar of deadlines to the field).
- Manage the relationship between the operations group in the field and the accounting group.
- Manage the property and revenue accountants (track and issue deadlines, coordinate meetings, training, assist in performance reviews).
- Answer questions from property and revenue accountants to help them complete their monthly and quarterly requirements as well as daily tasks.
- Coordinate the group’s responsibilities with the quarterly reforecast process and ensure deadlines are met.
- Coordinate the group’s responsibilities with the preparation and review of annual CAM reconciliations and ensure deadlines are met.
- Assist with the processes related to new acquisitions.
- Coordinate the group’s adherence to internal control policies.
- Review quarterly financial packages prepared by the property accountants.
- Lead the coordination with the external auditor regarding their interim internal controls testing and interim/year end substantive property level testing.
- Oversight of the audit process, including financial statement issuance, for single property audits required by lenders.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Initiate wire transfers.
- Responsible for oversight of all aspects of third party properties.
Requirements:
- BA in Accounting, Economics or Finance is desired
- 5+ years of overall property accounting experience in a fast paced environment
- 2+ years of experience in managing a property/portfolio accounting team
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with multiple entities
- MRI is HIGHLY PREFERRED (Yardi a plus)
