ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Duties:

  • Foster a culture of growth and accountability by coaching senior accounting personnel, leading performance management efforts, and facilitating onboarding, training, and continuous education on financial standards and operational best practices.
    Encourage collaboration and uphold a culture of professionalism, transparency, and shared success across the team.
  • Own the close process across multiple assets, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all deliverables.
    Validate the integrity of accounting output, guiding team members through complex issues and ensuring consistent application of company policies.
    Review journal entries, monitor output quality, and provide final sign-off on all key deliverables from senior staff.
  • Act as the accounting lead in lease administration reviews. Evaluate and approve material changes to lease terms—ensuring accurate financial treatment and compliance with internal thresholds. Final approver for all leases under defined square footage limits.
  • Serve as a key liaison with both internal and external auditors, facilitating interim testing of controls and supporting year-end property audits with detailed documentation and timely responses.
  • Prepare and review high-level financial schedules, including consolidated income statement variance analyses.
    Deliver meaningful insights through top-line flux reviews, identifying performance trends and providing explanations on budget-to-actual shifts.
  • Lead the accounting process for acquisitions and dispositions, ensuring clean handoffs and financial accuracy through lifecycle transitions.
    Handle one-off analyses and complex accounting tasks related to portfolio activity or corporate initiatives.
  • Review and approve capital funding needs weekly; confirm liquidity levels and ensure prompt processing of disbursements.
    Initiate wire transfers and coordinate funding activities as needed for unique or ad hoc scenarios.
  • Take ownership of advanced accounting projects, including lease straight-line validation, technical reconciliations, or other executive-level financial deep dives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • 2+ years of public accounting experience (with real estate clients). CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of total accounting experience (straight public is ok)
  • Prior supervisory experience
