SENIOR PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT

Responsibilities:

  • Review monthly and intercompany journal entries entered by third party accounting team.
  • Oversee the monthly/annual closing process, assist with CAM reconciliation, job cost and provide insights to management.
  • Handle accounts payable weekly check run, create new vendors in MRI, handle special invoices, track parcels and tax payments.
  • Treasury management – Monitor and reconcile bank accounts daily, review tenant receipts (ACH, wires, lockbox, check), assist with cash forecasting, process wires, and confirm funds availability for in-house checks and wires
  • Collaborate with Property Managers to resolve accounts receivable issues and tenant billing. Maintain a schedule to track and book bad debt reserve.
  • Assist in preparing and entering annual budgets in MRI
  • Maintain debt and book corresponding journal entries
  • Communicate with management on funding requests for distributions and check runs
  • Ensure adherence to accounting GAAP standards and provide backup for internal/external audits.
  • Correspond daily with third party property accounting regarding any outstanding matters
  • Promote continuous process improvements, best practices, and new tools or technologies
  • Maintain the highest level of quality over the GL, GL sub-leger, CAM, budgets, forecasts and monthly reporting deliverables.
  • Master the administration of key property accounting applications, including MRI, Avid, Banking, and other key relevant technologies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 4+ years of experience in property accounting and/or real estate more broadly
  • 2.5+ years of public accounting with real estate clients will also be considered
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experience with enhancing complex systems and processes; MRI is a plus
  • Experience with managing teams
  • Demonstrated excellence in time management and ability to prioritize multiple deliverables and meet deadlines
  • Able to address work in a flexible way and remain open to direction from supervisors
  • Ability to think strategically while executing day-to-day operations effectively.
