The Senior Accountant position supports the full accounting cycle, ensuring the accurate preparation and timely filing of the financial records for the organization. The Senior Accountant will be a subject-matter-expert in GAAP, will assist with the monthly closing and budget processes, will work with outside auditors on the annual audit and will support projects as required.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Properly records financial transactions in the general ledger on a timely basis.
  • Examines detailed accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepares journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations to support the monthly close process.  Develop and/or improve account reconciliations.
  • Ensures the general ledger and sub-ledgers are reconciled.
  • Supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Liaison with auditors on sales and use tax issues and filings.
  • Supports audits from lenders, licensors, and financial auditors.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of reporting and internal control procedures.
  • Assists with finance related process improvements including shortening of month end close.

  • Support projects such as system migration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA license (active or inactive) preferred.
  • 2-5 years relevant accounting experience required; preferred some experience in a mid to large CPA firm.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel.
  • Experience with Full Circle or AMT ERPs, and Sage GL system a plus.
