SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and interpret financial statements — including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports — in full compliance with GAAP standards and internal company guidelines.
- Own the monthly and annual closing cycles, driving completion of journal entries, ledger reconciliations, and detailed variance reviews.
- Support the construction of yearly budgets and rolling forecasts, tracking performance against targets and delivering clear explanations when material gaps emerge.
- Design and uphold internal control frameworks that protect organizational assets and preserve the integrity of financial reporting; proactively identify and remediate any gaps in the control environment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external audit engagements, supplying required documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and overseeing the timely resolution of any findings.
- Partner with tax advisors to maintain compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions; contribute to return preparation and participate in proactive tax planning initiatives.
- Deliver actionable financial analysis that informs strategic decisions — from capital investments and cost optimization efforts to competitive pricing models — while highlighting key performance indicators and emerging trends.
- Continuously evaluate accounting workflows and system configurations for improvement opportunities, championing and executing changes that reduce friction and boost operational throughput.
- Act as a resource and mentor for entry- and mid-level accounting team members, sharing knowledge of accounting fundamentals, technology platforms, and departmental best practices.
- Maintain the accuracy and completeness of financial records, reports, and general ledger accounts on an ongoing basis.
- Execute complex account analyses and reconciliations across a variety of account types.
- Provide ad hoc support to the Accounting Manager and fulfill additional responsibilities as business needs arise.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3+ years of accounting experience. Straight public accounting OR public/private
- CPA preferred (or working towards certification
- Some exposure to financial services is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Excel
- ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
