SENIOR PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the payroll cycles necessary to produce accurate and on-time bi-weekly paychecks for 200+ employees (Paycom, multistate), monthly bonus and commission payments, annual bonus payments, and manual checks for terminations and special situations.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll and timekeeping training material.
    • Audit staff time sheets.
    • Report instances and patterns of payroll non-compliance to management.
    • Partner with management to ensure employee timekeeping compliance is accurate and approvals are timely.
    • Process employee wage garnishments.
    • Partner with outside payroll company to manage multi-state localities and resolve tax- related issues.
    • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies as needed.
    • Prepare reports to support the processing and review of payroll.
    • Address employee inquiries related to payroll in a timely and professional manner.
    • Advise management on new payroll compliance requirements and trends.
    • Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies.
    • Provide information and audit schedules when needed for internal and external audits, including annual workers compensation and 401k audits.
    • Assist in month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
    • Provide support to the accounting department as needed, including data entry, reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports.
    • Oversee fleet management for approximately 20 vehicles, including lease coordination, vehicle allocation, ensure timely and regular servicing, and provide ongoing support to the sales team

Requirements:

  • • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
    • Experience using Paycom or similar payroll software.
    • Knowledge and experience with commissions-based pay.
    • Advanced computer skills including Excel required.
    • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
    • The ability to demonstrate professionalism, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • The ability to work in a challenging environment and demonstrate critical thinking skills, dependability, adaptability, accuracy, and diligence.
    • Familiarity with federal and state wage and hour laws and regulations.
    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • CPP designation is a plus but not required.
    • NetSuite experience a plus but not required.
