ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
Responsibilities:

- Lead and develop the divisional accounting teams including skills development, training and process improvement
- Establish accounting policies, processes, procedures, and systems to ensure implementation and continuous improvement, and appropriate segregation of duties
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards
- Review monthly account reconciliations for related divisions to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Provide accurate financial reporting by strategic business division
- Prepare and manage annual Budgets and semi-annual Reforecasts for related divisions
- Manage monthly budget vs. actual review process and reporting
- Create weekly cash flow forecasts for each related division
- Support AP teams in check, wire and ACH payments, proper GL coding, approvals and overall AP process
- Oversee and manage licensee audits
- Strong technical skills and experience, including the ability to understand, interpret and apply GAAP accounting standards to business transactions:
- Licensing and royalty arrangements
- Retail store operations, concession and consignment agreements
- Contract review
- Inventory accounting
- Fixed Assets
- Upcoming lease accounting standards
- Work with Controller to coordinate year end audits, review all balance sheet accounts and prepare schedules as required for related divisions
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement change to increase efficiency, streamline workflow and controls
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors
- Analyze and interpret financial data, recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance
- Identify risks and opportunities to budgets and forecasts, and communicate in a timely manner to the Controller or CFO
- Maintain strong relationships with company management teams with the ability to explain complex financial issues clearly and concisely
- Effectively manage, develop, coach and mentor accounting professionals within the department at varying degrees of experience and education
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related major
- Certified Public Accountant
- 2+ years of experience with a National CPA firm with a strong record and background of audit and accounting issues
- Experience as an Assistant Controller for $200M+ complex global, consumer manufacturing/distribution company with strong record of accounting process documentation and improvement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to think strategically, and a solution-based mentality
- Can quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships with department managers; demonstrates maturity and professionalism; acts as a role model and source of knowledge
- Service-oriented, well-organized, hard-working, proactive, self-motivated, with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to manage change
- Highly driven with ‘can-do’ attitude, have a positive and fun mind set
- Demonstrates an understanding of personalities and behavioral styles to work collaboratively with a variety of people at all levels
