CONTROLLER

Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with GAAP in external and internal financial reporting.
- Implement and manage a five-day month-end close process; present financial statements and flux analysis by business day five.
- Oversee timely and accurate monthly closing of the general ledger (GL) and all subsidiary ledgers, both domestic and international.
- Oversee all supporting schedules and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local taxation authorities.
- Oversee cost and inventory accounting.
- Manage the annual financial audit by managing relationship with auditing firm and directing accounting staff to provide required support to auditors.
- Establish and manage policies and procedures that ensure complete and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop and continuously assess proper accounting controls and ensure all policies and procedures are followed in compliance of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Revise and develop new policies and procedures as the company grows.
- Ensure accounting systems and processes are continually streamlined via process improvements to achieve greater efficiencies, accuracy and timeliness.
- Determine the staffing requirements for the accounting department and assess opportunities to create economies of scale as the company grows organically and through acquisitions.
- Provide stable leadership and mentorship to the Assistant Controller and all accounting staff.
- Set goals and priorities for the accounting department.
- Establish cross training, succession planning, and inspire a high level of performance in all accounting staff.
- Manage accounts receivable by ensuring contract compliance, accurate and timely billing, collections, and accurate payment application. Establish appropriate bad debt reserve.
- Oversee accounts payable including vendor relations and process management.
- Build out more robust accounting systems and automations, including A/P, A/R, NetSuite integrations.
- Establish intercompany billing and reconciliation processes with sister business units.
- International accounting experience, including foreign exchange experience.
- Integrate acquisitions into our accounting processes and systems.
- Develop ACH payment automation for payables to eliminate paper checks.
- Build relationships cross-functionally to foster collaboration across all departments.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
- CPA preferred
- Public Accounting experience preferred
- Medical device or biopharma experience preferred (Public company/SOX exposure preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience
- Exposure to inventory accounting highly preferred
